Week 27

The weeks are starting to blur again. Just when you get settled in a routine, you forget what you did each day. Routines are a blessing and a curse. Thank god for my iPhone and the pictures I take. I started him on food last week. He gets a vegetable with each meal and he eats 2x a day for now. I made sweet potatoes the first week and then just this past weekend I made butternut squash and peas. Peas were super hard to make and I used a strainer to get the skins off. I used my every day blender. I wonder if it would puree them super find with the Vita mix. I bet it will. I think I’ll use that next time I make his food. That being said, I think we are good for the next couple of weeks.
I did a lot of research about containers and in the end I settled for ice cube trays. I read online that each cube is about 1oz. I also purchased some veggies (peas and carrots) from the grocery store. So I’m going to reuse those glass containers to store his food that I make at home. Very cost efficient and I know I can heat the cubes in the glass jar.

He has some small breakouts on his body, mainly chest. It looked liked what he had when he was a month old. It is not that extreme but still concerning. Almost like eczema. I hope he’s not allergic to anything I have given him. I got too excited and gave him all three vegetables in the last week.  I really should have done one veggie for a couple of days at a time. Oh well. I’m sure he’ll be fine. His body is just saying, “Woah”.

Week 26

Poor little boop has bronchitis. He’s on antibiotics right now. Last Wednesday I fed him his regular meal with cereal on the side and he threw it all up because he was coughing so much. At that point we decided to see the doctor. She confirmed he’s sick and gave him antibiotics. He’s feeling much better now but last week I just felt so bad for him. He’s also eating or drinking a lot less now. He should be doing 6oz about 5-6 times a day. He’s been doing about 3-4oz 5-6 times a day. We started him on veggies this week. He had squash with his cereal two days ago and loved it. I mean loved it. I might try sweet potato later this week. The squash came from a bottle, but I will make the potatoes myself.

We went to NJ and met Colby. We were sad we couldn’t bring Veer with us. But we couldn’t risk him infecting that little peanut Colby. He’s such a cutie pie. Maybe in the summer we’ll be able to get some pictures of the boys together.

Week 25

1st week of daycare was a long week. Monday and Tuesday were not good days for him. When I called, Miss April told me that he was very aware of everyone and would cry when another baby cried. He didn’t eat much either, but she reassured us that he’ll learn to eat there too. It will be a lesson in tough love because over there if you don’t eat when they feed you, they don’t necessary come again and try to feed you. She said eventually they all learn and eat when it’s their time. He also didn’t sleep well there, but that we knew would happen. On Friday, they don’t have a full house, so he was much better. It was quieter and probably the teachers were able to give him more time and attention. But boy, was he tired after school all day. One of the days, I think Wednesday, he fell asleep at 8:30 and you know he hasn’t done that since…. well ever! I’m looking forward to forming a routine with him. Now he has to be in bed by 10 even if he is up.

Week 24

Last week was interesting. Anand’s store became Daddy Daycare. By end of day Monday Anand was ready for a drink. He finally admitted how taking care of a baby was a full time job. Veer was good on Monday but something happened to him after that. Not sure if it was an environment change or the fact that he had to go out of the house everyday but he started becoming very cranky during his feeds. He would stop eating in the middle and refused to eat. He also had a little bit of a stuffy nose. I bought baby Vicks and I think that helped too.
He still is flipping over but doesn’t know how to flip back. We went to Ron & Hetal’s house yesterday and he had a great time on baby Saanya’s bouncy play gym. Funny story…  well not really but funny if you look past the problems it shows… so Niam was playing golf by himself. He putts his ball and he ran in Veer’s direction chasing the golf ball and that must have startled Veer. So he hysterically started crying. Thru the whole night he would cry any time Niam approached him. Niam unknowing of what was going on was not fazed by Veer or his crying. Poor guy was just playing by himself and not bothering anyone but of course our little rascal was so scared of him. Can you say, hello, social anxiety!?!

Week 23

He’s doing really well on his cereal. We started him with oatmeal a couple of weeks ago and then last week started him on rice cereal too. So now’s he’s doing oatmeal and rice. I feel like he loves it when we add it to his milk, but a couple of days ago I tried to have him eat it on it’s own and he was making strange faces. He’s becoming more active now that while I was feeding him, he knocked the cereal bowl out of my hands. The little rugrat thought it was the funniest thing in the world. He starts day care next week but this week he’s been with Anand at the store. Forget WineWorks, we are looking to change the name to Daddy Daycare.

We finally said goodbye to the last of our awesome houseguest and it’s been just Anand, Veer and I. We finally bought the futon for his room and were able to get some nice shots of it. Here’s his room. But remeber this and this? We still want to do something on the wall where the changing pad is but will wait for something brilliant to come to us. Remember my inspiration for the room during Week 21? No, not two weeks ago... but week 21 pre-Veer.

at night with the light on
Okay, i agree... i should have cleaned up a little more before posting these pictures. ignore random black chair in the corner and the diaper bag in another corner.

The last couple of days we have been putting in his crib while he’s semi-sleeping and he’s done alright in falling asleep by himself. We finally are able to use the Sleep Sheep to it’s fullest and I think it’s actually working. Yay for Sleep Sheep!
I’m really excited about next week. Let’s see how he does at daycare.

Here's the little man at 23 weeks:
