Anand and I have decided to finally take the plunge and become parents. We were lucky to have conceived in our first month of trying. By now I have taken five different home pregnancy test and they have all confirmed I’m pregnant. I haven’t officially been told by a doctor, but who cares, right?! I have my first doctor’s appointment today with my gynecologist. She’s not an obstetrician; hopefully she’ll refer me to someone who is in the area so I don’t have to drive much.
I started taking home pregnancy test like 2 weeks after we started trying… of course the test came negative at the time. By the time I was supposed to get my period this month, I had almost given up hope.

Picture #1 should have a pink/red line on the left of the red line. Nothing there!! |

| Picture #2 - you can see a slight line down in the circle but at the time I didnt think it was enough. |
Plus, I started feeling my menstrual symptoms early in the week. It was literally a day before I was supposed to get my period, Friday December 17, 2010, that I saw a positive sign.

I couldn’t believe my eyes. I quickly sent Anand and my friend Nital a text message showing them a picture of the test. (Why Nital? Well, she and I had been talking about it a lot lately and she’s been supporting me the whole way, especially the weeks when I thought I wasn’t). Back to the story -
They both immediately told me to go out and get more test. So obliged. Three test later, we kinda started getting really happy.

That night we were supposed to meet my friends from college in NYC, which we did. Hiding the fact wasn’t so hard…. My drink of choice was vodka soda with lime, minus the vodka. I happily let them think it had both ingredients. The next day I took another test -> positive. Then on Sunday morning I took an EPT test and also a dipstick that you find at doctor’s offices. The dipstick had never confirmed or shown a sign that I was pregnant before, but this time it was pretty evident.
And that brings us to today. I called my doctor, and made an appointment to go see her at 4pm today.
Yes, I already figured out what my due date might be – August 25th 2011. Yes, I already figured out how many weeks pregnant I am – 5 weeks!!! I’m just waiting for a doctor to confirm my findings.
Next time – how Kavita (my SIL) and Dhaval (my brother) react. We’ll be telling them this week.
