48 weeks

Week 47

Veer broke out from something the last couple of weeks. He had bums around him mouth, which the day care teacher thinks is from his binky and then some on his face which were probably from a food. I had started giving him strawberry puffs and strawberry, apple and banana fruit cups and I think he might be allergic to strawberry right now. We also gave him a lot of other things – cake, frosting, gajar hulva (carrot cake), a samosa and 10 other things.  So now we are trying to avoid everything. It’s so difficult b/c any time we start to eat food, he runs over to us and just stare at us. Give us the biggest puppy eyes and is probably thinking, “look at how cute I am, and you will just sit there and eat your delicious home cooked meal, while I have to eat blend rice and veggies. Now I know what that poor dog, Raka, is going thru.”

He has also been going thru a lot of separation anxiety. The teacher at school said it was normal. He clings to me when I pick him up from daycare and won’t let go, and then once Anand is home, he is all over him. He is the exact opposite at school. Last night I was putting him to his bed and he started crying. He cried for about 5 minutes and I couldn’t take it anymore (I mean really, have you seen his cute little face?!?!), so I went it and picked him up and tried to make him go to sleep by sleeping with him on the futon. He would not let go of my t-shirt. He even tried to put his hand over my shoulders so he knew I was there. He must have worked himself up b/c he couldn’t fall asleep, so once again I left him in his crib. He cried. He cried some more for about 2 minutes and fell asleep.

Yesterday I think he said his first official words. Too bad I wasn’t around so it doesn’t count. But in all seriousness, Manali said he woke up from his nap and was starved (Manali is the baby whisperer, so she can tell). Anyways, she said he had thrown up, a lot, right before he fell asleep and must have been hungry. So when he woke up he was saying, “mum mum mum mum…” And after she fed him he stopped saying, “mum mum…”

Last weekend we attended Anand’s cousin’s wedding (technically it’s his nephew). Veer was really well behaved. We took him out for the groom’s procession and he didn’t cry a bit. He didn’t smile either but he didn’t cry. Did I mention it was like 90 something degrees outside that day. Yes, it was. But as soon as we took him in, he was all over the place. He didn’t complain one bit about his Indian outfit. He did well.

Week 46

We have 4 teeth now! I feel for him so much because he has been in pain for a couple of weeks. I’ve seen him chew on his binkie a few times. Anything in sight gets chewed on. I think he is also discovering his teeth. Often I see him putting his finger in his mouth to see what’s going on. Lately the sad puppy face has been on high gear as you will see on my youtube channel. We started giving him the strawberry and apple puffs and it looks like he might be allergic to it. He broke out, but then again Kavita gave him some bataka puvua and it had green pepper in it, so he might have broken out from that. He has been giving us sad puppy eyes like Raka when we eat. He wants everything we eat. He even wants what we’re drinking – anything from water to beer. Veer’s first wedding weekend is this weekend; let’s see how he does with 1000 people around him. Literally.

  

Week 45

We have a total of 3 teeth now! The top two made an appearance at the same time early this week. He was with my parents while I was in Puerto Rico for Hiral’s Bachelorette party and mom had a feeling he was getting his teeth because his gums were white and voila! We celebrated the 4^th together. Well almost. I had my exchange and Anand and Veer spent the morning with Gee. We later met up with them and spent a few hours at Gees house.  Gee had his cousin Kishu’s Barbie sippie cup and it was sight to see when Veer was using it for water. Our local park had it’s 4^th of July fireworks yesterday and I am glad we decided not to go to the park to watch them. We watched them from our patio and that was good enough. As soon as the show started, the water works started. He was so scared and we weren’t even that close to the show. I forget sometimes that Veer is still a baby.
