Week 13

Today is the last day of week 13. Tomorrow starts trimester 2!!!

The last week has been great. My parents came to visit and babied me like it was their job. I started watching a very old VHS copy of the Ramayana and after 1/2 hour it gave me a headache and I requested we get DVD. The big change I am starting to feel is in my hips - they are starting to hurt. are they stretching?!

Oh, I had my regular doctors appointment this week. He said everything looks good and the baby's heartbeat was 160, which he said was normal. What's with these doctors and their creepy smiles? Maybe it's me - maybe most moms they see have a smile tattooed on them 24/7. I could have been super smiley if i wasn't thinking about, "i hope i get back to work on time" after the doctor made me wait 25 minutes.

The baby is the size of shrimp now.

Probably next week I will tell my manager at work. He's reaction probably will be, "Congrats. Are you going to come back?" LOL. I have dinner plans with the girls from the "bookclub" tonight and I'll tell them tonight. :)

Week 12

I finally feel like I'm getting myself back. Gone are the days of evening sickness, fatigue, tiredness... okay so i am still tired. Nowadays I have back pain late in the day (that's how I know I need to sit and relax). I'm also heading to bed earlier than usual - like 11:30pm.

I went for the genetic screening and ultrasound yesterday. The baby's doing fine. At first he/she didn't want to cooperate with the ultrasound tech. He/she was doing a headstand. The tech needed him in a profile position to do the measurements. So after 10 minutes or so, she made me lift my hips up and shake my body... she made me gently slam it on the table a couple of times. She said that would get him into the position she needed. Anyways after 15 minutes or so we have a picture of the little monkey. Oh, in the middle I said the baby looks like a monkey (well, cus it did) and she started baby talking to the baby. She told the baby , (insert baby talk voice) "did you hear that baby? your mommy is calling you a monkey". OMG- that tech was so strange. Half of the time she talked to me in baby talk. Here's the pic - notice how much bigger she is:

Test came back good and no signs of concern.

Here's yours truly at 12 weeks (eek 3 months already!!):

Week 11

Week 11 was pretty uneventful. I was sick for most of the time - sore throat, cough, cold, etc. So much so that I had to take 2 days off of work. I never take off for being sick. My stomach is starting to form a little rounder and a little harder (versus the squishy, blubbery way it was before).

The baby is the size of:

MINUS

Scientifically he/she looks kinda like this:

Week 10

We’re approaching the end of Week 10. Nothing much has happened physically but I do feel my weight is shifting towards my belly. It’s no secret that I didn’t have a flat belly before, but now it’s more pronounced and round. It’s hard to describe, I guess.

My symptoms are 50% better. I’m able to do some things around the house. I’m still exhausted but not like week 7 and 8. The baby is the size of a purne.

I told two of my friends this week. Rachael and Jalpa. The both Masi-to-be were super excited.

Rach and I have been friends since like the 7th grade. We’ve been besties forever and have seen each other thru a lot, mostly good times. Unfortunately I didn’t get to meet Rach in NJ this past weekend so I ended up telling her over the phone in Jersey. Although I couldn’t really talk to her much, I know she’s super excited. She told her Grammy immediately after we hung up (she told me later).

Jalpa and I met in grad school and ended up living in CT by coincidence. We’ve kept in touch especially the last three years. She’s my cleanse-lovin’, mountain climbin’ friend. I told Jalpa by showing her this blog. I told her I started another blog and I would send her a link to it. She’d been busy in meetings all day and didn’t get a chance to look at it till like 5pm. Part of the reason why she didn’t immediately look at it was probably because this is my 3rd blog and she probably thought it was just another blog. Haha. Anyways, she must have read the blog around 5pm, because I got a voicemail from her at work, she sent me an email, and then later called me. Her email was one of the sweetest we have received:

I AM SOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!! I CANT BELIEVE IT. I WISH YOU COULD SEE ME RIGHT NOW. EAR TO EAR SMILING AND CRYING. I AM SOOOOOOOOO HAPPY FOR YOU. AND GUESS WHAT YOU AND MY COUSIN HAVE THE SAME DUE DATE. SHE TOLD ME ABOUT HER PREGGER NEWS JUST TWO DAYS AGO! JUST GUSHING SITTING HERE AT WORK. STARING AT THE LITTTLE PEANUT, I JUST WANT TO PINCH HIS/HER CHEEKS!

… I WISH I HAD MY ITOUCH TO RECORD THE REACTION SO I CAN SEND TO YOU.

BLESS BLESS BLESS YOU BOTH. LOTS OF LOVE, HUGS, AND KISSES FOR EVERYONE (AND THE LITTLE ONE ON THE WAY)
