Week 40

This picture was taken this morning and I literally took like 20 shots before I got a smile. Either he is not smiling and laying still or sitting up. It's getting harder and harder. I think the last 12 weeks; I might even have to do this a little differently. I stuck my finger in his mouth and felt something poke- a tooth has sprouted! You can't see it yet, but it's there.

We had a play date with Saanya and Niam last week and they got along great. Remember the first time Veer and Niam met? Well, it’s a 180 now! He was so not intimidated by Niam. Saanya and Veer played together really well and even used Manali to climb over her.

Week 39

What a week. Veer had diarrhea last week; I haven’t had to change that many diapers since he was a baby. He usually has 2-3 BMs a day, but last week it was like 6-7. The big difference between when he was a baby and now is that when he was a baby he would stay put. Now he wants to do anything but lie still – he is constantly flipping around, touching him poop, scratching his butt, kicking his feet. When I called the doctor to see if there was a solution to the diarrhea, she recommended I take him off his formula and try soy formula (um, no!), stop giving fruits and only give him bananas, and give him rice. I did most of that later on in the week and I think it definitely helped. He is back to normal with about 2 BMs a day. Earlier this week when I was talking to my friend Tina and I told her about his BMs, she suggested it could have been the anti-biotic he was on the week before. I guess anti-biotic s give kids (and even adults?) diarrhea. I just wonder, why the doctor hasn’t suggested that!?
I think I forgot to mention we lowered his crib about a month ago, which was so over due and now so necessary. Whenever he wakes ups, he now stands up and either looks around his room or cries. I wonder when we’ll have to lower the crib again. It was a pain in the butt and I am so not looking forward to it.

Week 38

Veer and I - 1st Mother's day 2012 - New Haven, CT
The past week has been pretty eventful. Now that Veer is crawling, our house is a little cleaner than it used to be. I remember a few months ago I was in a cleaning slump. I didn’t really like to clean too much. I did the bare minimum. I even had not cleaned the floors for like a month and a half. Shocked, I know! But with him being on his hands and knees we are forced to have clean floors. So you know what that mean: clean floors = Veer strolling thru the house = me happy. This past weekend was Mother’s Day and I had a wonderful day. Most of the day we hung out at Kavita’s house. We slept over at Kavita’s house the night before, which meant we got to sleep in Sunday morning since Veer slept with her that night. In the afternoon around 4 we went to New Haven for a nice stroll around Yale and then we went out to dinner with Mom, Dad, Kavita, and masi’s family. Over all it was a nice, relaxing day. The day before, we attended Aiden’s birthday party in the park. Veer missed most of the party since he took a nap for a good hour. Veer was so funny at the party. We put him down on the blanket so he can roll around and play. Very quickly I learned that he was scared of the grass. It was so funny to watch. The beach ball he was playing with fell outside of his play area (in the grass) and he was so afraid to get it because that would mean he would have to leave the blanket. When I lifted him and teased him by putting him back on the grass, he started crying. Who knew all kids are afraid of grass initially?!

Week 37

Veer doing Yoga at 8 month. Dang, if he can do it, I could do it!

Veer is off and crawling. A couple of days ago he ended up in the kitchen by himself. He’s curious about the cabinets and the fridge. He even found Raka’s toys and went after them. I guess it’s okay since they are brother the same size after all. It’s so funny watching Veer chase Raka around the house. Raka could care less about Veer and Veer is obsessed with Raka. It’s funny how he’s not scared of Raka at all. Raka gets in his face, runs around him, licks him, etc. I wish we could hold on to that lack of fear as we grow old.

Someone came into the kitchen today all by himself
Veer’s been crawling from his room to ours in the mornings and it’s so cute because if he thinks I am chasing him, he will crawl faster, and then he takes a break to see if I still am and start crawling again. He’s been touching a lot of things he shouldn’t be and as soon as I say, “NO” he knows he shouldn’t be touching it. He even cries when I do it a few times in a row. His cry-baby face is so cute! Speaking of cry baby – look at how cute he is in this week’s picture! There are two reasons I chose that picture: 1) that is the only decent one of him on his back and 2) he’s so stinkin’ cute when he cries. Hehe. Each week I probably take anywhere from 20-30 pictures of him. Out of the selection, I pick one that represents him best (each week I try to capture something new).
