Week 19

Where did the holidays go? I’m truly not that upset that they are over. I did enjoy them thoroughly. I had 10 days off of work and got to spend most of it with my little man. So much has happened since my last post. The Hunger Ga…err… wait wrong blog. He isn’t spitting up as much as he was about a month ago. He’s starting to flip over more. He hasn’t officially done it on his own yet, but he’s getting there. He must also be teething because he’s constantly biting his fingers. We’ve given him a teether but he likes his fingers the best. Sometime they are red by the end of the day. He’s outgrown most of his outfits now and I’m on round two of packing his clothes away. I’m kinda sad about that because he’s growing up too fast. His hair is coming in; it’s funny to see some long strands that have remained from birth. He kinda reminds me of dad#2 (Anand’s dad). Dad#2 is bald except for the back and side of his head. He has like 5 pieces of hair left on the top of head. He won’t shave that off b/c that’s all that’s remaining on top. So sometimes when I’m playing with Veer’s head/hair – I notice his had like 5 pieces of hair that are longer than the rest and it totally reminds me of dad. I can almost see his future.

We went in for his 4 month doctors appointments where he got his second round of vaccines. He’s now 28.5 inches and weighs 14lbs. The doctor joked he could use a little meat on his body and we agree. He’s such a little peanut that all the calories he eats he uses up by kicking and playing all day. My baby has no baby fat on him. The doctor said that babies who nap a lot during the day tend to gain more weight or rather maintain their weight; our little man takes catnaps thru out the day – at most he will sleep for 45 minutes. But I can’t complain too much. He does sleep like 8-9 hours at night so it’s all good. On a bad note, he did get sick for the first time right around this time. Anand and I both had colds and sore throat and we passed it on to him. The days he was sick he did sleep more than 45 minutes during the day. Poor guy was, and still is, so stuffed up. He was running a low fever but it would come and go. Believe it or not, I was telling one of my customers, a pediatrician, about Veer being sick and the doctor recommended some treatment options. Sometimes my work rocks. I said sometimes.

We went to Dipuldidi’s house for Christmas and had a blast. Veer was of course the center of attention and was probably held about 99% of the time we were there. We rang in the New Year at home and he stayed up right with us. We had Parul, Gee, Gary, Vaishali, and Kavita over. He was way too excited to see everyone that he wouldn’t go to sleep. We let him stay up till midnight. I can’t help but reflect on how much our lives have changed in the last year. Talk about 2011! It’s been the best and worst year of my life. It was a year of change, anger, love, reflection, sadness, and happiness. The one thing that 2011 has taught me is that Tupac Shakur was onto something - Life Goes On.

Here’s the little peanut butter at 19 weeks:

omg - he had such a blast during this photoshoot. he literally couldnt stop smiling and dancing. i think he loved those glasses! I wish i could have used like 5 other pictures. they are equally cute and funny.
