Birthday Celebrations

I feel guilty that I haven’t written in almost two weeks. Although the weekly documentation is over, I still want to record his growth.
Veer and Anya
We celebrated Veer’s birthday in NJ last weekend. And although the adult to kid’s ratio was very very low, we had a great time and so did Veer. He finally met his cousin Anya, who is about 2.5 months younger than him. She is a cutie. It was fun to see how much a child grows in 2 months. Anya can stand with support now and crawl, whereas Veer can walk. I can’t believe just a few months ago he couldn’t walk.

Yes, my face is super sweaty. Don't judge. It was hot and I am going thru menopause.

He also started a new habit of pretending to talk on the phone. It all started in England. One day I was talking on the phone and he was looking at him holding his hand to his ear. At first I thought he had an ear infection because he kept doing that a lot. Later we realized he was imitating us. Anytime the phone rang or saw us on the phone, he would put his hand on his ear. Now he even takes a phone or at times a remote control and pretends to talk. We have even heard him say, “hi” while on the phone. It’s adorable.

We had his 1 year physical today. His height is 32 and a quarter inches, where as his weight is 20 lbs. 9oz. he is the 97 percentile for his height and 15 for his weight. The doctor gave us some great advice on what to feed him and I look forward to making him chubby (although I doubt that. Have you seen Anand?!?!).

We are not feeding him half milk and half formula. We have one more carton of formula to go thru and after that it’s all whole milk. I can’t wait till the day we can do that. Although now that I think about it, it might be a pain in the butt when traveling to store the milk in a cold container. Darn. We are trying to wean him off his binkie. Today is day #3 of no binkie during the day. He has been fine so far. We let him have it when going to bed. I think maybe next week we will have to cut that out too.

I think this age is my favorite so far because he is so much more responsive. He comes over to give me hugs and kisses. He is semi-independent. He entertains himself. He sometimes listens. I can actually do my work without having to hold him or comfort him. Plus, he is just fun. Watching him walk in an open space is hilarious. He puts his hands up and tries to run. Sometimes I can’t stop laughing because he looks like Phoebe on Friends during the episode when she runs in the park like a crazy person.
