1 year old!

I swear I could write a novel. I think I just might.

So much has happened since my last entry. Veer turned one, travel to England, and started walking. He also starting talking more and eating more items (bread, cereal, and some regular food).  I traveled to India and met the family in England for our cousin’s wedding in England. I didn’t have the awesome (interest sarcasm) job of traveling with a baby – I left that to Anand and Kavita. They said he behaved really well going to England, however coming back was another story. He was really well behaved for the most part in England. He played well with other kids. He broke out in a rash over there and it didn’t seem to get better until we came back home. I am not sure if it was the water there, or food, or the heat but since we have been back it’s been a little better. He still has really dry skin.

We celebrated his 1st birthday party this past weekend. The theme was balloons and rainbows. I know very generic but we made the most of it. The entire decor was homemade starting from the birthday banner, to the balloon basket. I ended up not going with the 32” balloon for the hot air balloon basket because 1) they cost $16 per balloon, 2) I didn’t really have time the day of the party to go get them 3) I would need two vans to transport 3-4 balloons from the party store to home. So I made do with the lots of regular sized balloons. All the parents and kids had a blast at the hot air balloon photo drop. We hired a face painter/balloon twister. She was great, although I still think she is better suited for a little girl’s birthday party. Her face painting jobs were amazing but a little on the pretty size. We had a lot of snacks that kids would enjoy (after all it was a kid’s birthday party) and we ordered pizza for lunch. The weather turned out to be great and at times I felt it was little too warm.  I doubt the kids noticed. The milk and cookie bar was not as big a hit as I thought it would have been. I think probably the kids filled up on other food and didn’t eat much, or probably we had more food than we thought we needed. The rainbow (pan)cake was a big hit. We really wanted Veer to dive into the cake but he just picked at the frosting. The kid has OCD or something.

Part of the decorations was my weekly photo project. Now that the year is complete I kind of am sad and relieved. I am sad because I won’t document his weekly growth progress (yes, I know I have the option of continuing. No, I am not crazy enough to do it) and relieved because I don’t have to find backgrounds. Sometimes I would think of what backgrounds to use weeks in advance. Until the very end (like week 40) I had a background pick. Right around week 40 I started to hesitate. Luckily I made it thru. That piece of decoration was probably my favorite at the party. I will save it for his graduation party. Reuse and recycle. I am helping the planet.

So what now?! Where does the blog go? I still will document life with Veer. Maybe life in general. Maybe document baby #2. Not now, eventually, someday, someday far far away. Maybe.
