Week 19

I am starting to see some of the other symptoms of pregnancy lately. No matter what time I go to bed, I wake up in the middle of night and can’t fall asleep for at least ½ hour (or at least it seems). I now know there are a lot of cars that pass by in the middle of the night and one time someone’s car alarm went off at like 4am. Before the pregnancy I would never have woken up to these thing… ask my roommate in college! One time Nital and I slept thru a fire alarm in college – yes that loud, annoying, fire alarm. Luckily one of the girls who was sweeping the floors was our other roommate and she quickly told us to go downstairs. So, waking up every night is a little different. I do not like it. I did learn that if I go to bed a little after midnight, I usually don’t wake up till 6am, which is good. Oh, one night last week my Micheal Buble’s CD went off in the middle of the night. I guess I had set the alarm on my CD player and it went off at like 1:30 am. It woke me and so I listened to the whole CD. One hour later it stopped. Yes, I am lazy.

I had my big ultrasound on March 30th and again on April 6th, the one where we get to find out the sex of the baby. Well we didn’t despite what I told my family on April fools day. Both days the baby’s back was turned so the tech couldn’t get a proper pictures of certain body parts (heart, lips, hands). So now they referred me to Yale. I have my appointment set for Monday. I asked the tech if Yale has better equipment than they do and she told me no. She said to me they are only allowed to do two ultrasounds and if they can’t get proper pictures, they have to refer me out to Yale. She said they do their ultrasounds early enough, so in case there is a problem, the patients have options. WHAT OPTIONS!!?!?!? I was so pissing mad when she said that, I literally couldn’t stop thinking if everything was alright. I mean during the ultrasound we saw the baby move a lot and at one point he even stuck his first finger up (Was the baby saying, “hold one minute” or “no, no, no, pictures”). During the exam his feet were by his mouth and his hand over his heart. She took 45 minutes and finally gave up because she couldn’t get proper pictures of the heart (all the arteries). Anyways, when I got home, I was a little freaked out because why would they think I would have to go to Yale if Yale didn’t have better equipment and that is when I finally felt the baby move. I got a quick thump and a feeling of butterflies in my stomach. I swear it happened and I didn’t imagine it. Later that same day, when I couldn’t go to bed I felt the same feeling again. Was the baby telling me everything is alright and he/she is just stubborn like his/her momma?!

Here’s the baby’s head shot at 19 weeks:
